Nearly three years ago a friend's frame shop was revamping it's space to incorporate a gallery. For their inaugural exhibition I was invited to make some new jewelry. Wanting to do something different- I move beyond the beads I had worked with for so many years and began playing around with bicycle innertubes and leather scrap I had laying around. I've always had difficulty throwing things away and was excited to give these materials new life. Now my cyclist friends save their flats for me, I have a seemingly endless supply. I am also the fortunate recipient of many high quality leather pieces. My designer friends give me their discontinued swatch samples from upholstery catalogs. Happy to repurpose and recycle. I never know what I will to get or what will be made, but it's always green.
